In this class at Saskatoon Makerspace, students will learn the basics of woodturning using a lathe and create their own custom wooden object. The class will cover topics such as types of lathes, tool selection and usage, and basic woodturning techniques such as roughing, shaping, and finishing. Participants will learn how to select and use turning tools, and sand and finish their final product. Through hands-on practice and guided instruction, students will create a honey dipper to take home. The class will emphasize the importance of safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment. All materials and tools will be provided, but students are encouraged to bring their own basic woodturning tools if they have them. By the end of the class, students will have a foundational understanding of woodturning techniques and will have created their own unique wooden project to take home.This class has wood lathe 101 as a pre requisite Please wear close toed shoes and tie up long hair. Ear plugs and safety glasses will be provided.

The fine print.

We do not offer full refunds for classes. Class tickets can be transferred to another date as long as you contact us at least 4 days in advance so we have time to sell your ticket to someone else. We will only transfer your ticket to the next class one time. With less than 4 days notice, we can refund 50% of the ticket price.

Our classes are primarily designed for adults, however we do allow youth ages 14+ to come to a class with a parent/guardian. Anyone 16+ is allowed to go to a class on their own but must have a waiver signed by a parent/guardian.

*Soap making being the exception, it is an 18+ class.
