soap making
In this hands-on workshop at Saskatoon Makerspace, students will learn the basics of soap making and create their own all-natural, handcrafted soap using plant-based ingredients. The class will cover topics such as ingredient selection, scent and color customization, and the cold process soap making method. Participants will learn how to measure, mix, and blend ingredients to create their own custom soap recipe. They will also learn about the curing process and how to store and package their finished soaps. By the end of the class, students will have created their own batch of custom soap to take home and will have a foundational understanding of the art and science of soap making. Feel free to bring your own additives, essentials oils, colours such as oxides or micas, or even spices!
This class is suitable for beginners with little to no experience in soap making. Students are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing and footwear for working with soap ingredients.
Safety! To protect your skin please wear long sleeves, long pants and closed toe shoes. If you'd like, a bib type apron is optional to bring along. Please bring along a bath sized towel to wrap and keep your loaf of soap warm when you take it home.
