Leather working

In this hands-on class at Saskatoon Makerspace, students will learn the basics of leatherworking and create their own custom handcrafted leather goods. The class will cover topics such as selecting and preparing leather, tool selection and usage, and basic leatherworking techniques such as hand stitching and edge finishing. Participants will create a simple and clean leather wallet and will have the opportunity to customize their designs by adding embellishments. The class will emphasize the importance of safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment. All materials and tools will be provided, but students are encouraged to bring their own basic leatherworking tools if they have them. This class is suitable for beginners with little to no experience in leatherworking. By the end of the class, students will have a foundational understanding of leatherworking techniques and will have created their own unique leather project to take home.
